Aquablue Moorea: an unforgettable underwater adventure

With Aquablue Moorea, I experienced an exploration worthy of Tintin
but in a turquoise lagoon version. Palm trees on the horizon, colorful fish swirling around me, and that thrilling sensation of becoming a child again on a secret underwater mission.
As a little girl, I used to watch Tintin walking on the ocean floor in his diving suit, eyes wide with curiosity, ready to face the mysteries of the sea. I remember the chill of excitement I’d feel at the thought of discovering a silent world full of fish, treasures, and sunken secrets.

Years later, Never could I have imagined that, years later, I’d find myself in that very setting—helmet on my head, feet buried in the sand.

Yet it was exactly that emotion I felt. This time, however, it wasn’t a cartoon. I was the heroine of the story.
Feet on the seabed, helmet gently placed on my head, I walked across the bottom of the lagoon like in a childhood dream brought to life. In fact, No need to be a diver. No need even to know how to swim. All it takes is the desire to explore, to be amazed, to rediscover the ocean in a completely new way.

There are adventures you never forget. Indeed, they’re timeless ones, where you suddenly feel like a true explorer, ready to uncover the hidden treasures of the underwater world.
Suspended moments where everything aligns: the beauty of the setting, the raw emotion, the magic of something rare. Undoubtedly, my experience with Aquablue Moorea is undeniably one of those moments.

From the very first steps onto the boat, I knew something special was about to happen. The air was warm, the lagoon sparkling
and I had a date with a unique kind of immersion. What’s more, you don’t need to know how to dive—or swim. All it takes is being six years old (or older), a spark of curiosity, and the urge to live something extraordinary.

The yellow helmet: your passport to adventure

Helmet diving is the soft, easy-going alternative to scuba diving or snorkeling. Above all, what I loved immediately was how simple it all was: no wetsuit, no leaky snorkel, not even flippers. Just me, my swimsuit, and this surprising yellow helmet—both comfortable and high-tech. And the best part: I could breathe normally, as if I were on land.

This activity is for everyone—even those who don’t swim—starting at age 6. It’s simple, safe, and yet spectacular. The helmet, gently placed on your head by the team, is supplied with air and allows you to open your eyes (and your heart) underwater, without the slightest feeling of discomfort or pressure.

Led by a professional, passionate, and incredibly kind team, we set off on a 10-minute boat ride. During the ride, the boat glides over the transparent waters of the lagoon, heading toward either Motu Fareone or the lagoon of PapetoaĂź, depending on the weather.

Meanwhile, we admired the shifting reflections of the lagoon and the rugged outline of Moorea in the distance. At that moment, everyday life felt far away. Moorea from the sea looks like a living postcard.
Vincent calmly and humorously explained what to expect during the dive. Furthermore, he answered everyone’s questions, and reassured those who were a little nervous. All in all, everything was designed to make us feel comfortable and ready to enjoy the experience fully.

A childhood dream, beneath the waves

The boat stops in the middle of a picture-perfect landscape. The water is warm, crystal-clear, and nearly surreal. Then, slowly, we descend the ladder, the helmet on our heads.
And then
 the miracle happens.

There I was, walking slowly across the sandy floor of the lagoon, between 3 and 5 meters deep.
Suddenly, the world changed. The sound of the wind disappeared. All I could hear was the soft rhythm of my own breathing. Everything became quiet. Soothing. Intense.
I was literally walking on the ocean floor, feet in the sand, surrounded by vibrant life—creatures I’d only ever seen in documentaries.

The fish came right up to me without fear, as if I’d always belonged in their world. Butterflyfish, angelfish swam around me, rays glided by with elegance, and even a moray eel peeked out from its rocky shelter.
This was another world—calm, colorful, and absolutely captivating. I wasn’t just watching nature. I was part of it.
For a few precious minutes, I became a true inhabitant of the lagoon.

The experience lasts around 30 minutes, but each second feels like it stretches out in that magical, underwater stillness.

Of course, this experience wouldn’t have been the same without the wonderful team.
Tight-knit, kind, funny, passionate—they make you feel at ease from the moment you arrive. Everything flows smoothly. Two instructors are underwater with you the whole time, right there at your side, always watching, always comforting.

Their presence is subtle, but reassuring, and it allows you to fully let go and soak up every moment.

Live the moment
 then relive it forever

And then, there are the memories. The real ones. In fact, The kind you keep in your heart
and the kind you take home, thanks to AQUABLUE’s amazing media team.

They film and photograph everything underwater with an eye for emotion and timing that’s just impressive. The videos are edited with care, and the result is nearly cinematic.
You’ll see wide-eyed expressions, underwater smiles, gentle gestures reaching out to fish—or that unforgettable moment when a ray swims just past your hand.

I can’t recommend the photo and video option enough. Why? Because it lets you live in the moment, without worrying about capturing it yourself.

Vincent and his team handle everything: underwater photos, high-quality video editing
The result is stunning. And you leave with a USB stick full of unforgettable memories.
